How the Tiffin Started
Founder Vaishali moved to Canada in 2021, she noticed something that many Indians living here
could relate to—the taste of home was missing. While there were many food options available, it
was difficult to find the authentic flavors of traditional Indian home-cooked meals. The spices,
ingredients, and cooking methods were often different, and the warmth of a homemade meal was
hard to find.
Coming from Western part of India, I wanted to recreate the same authentic taste using the best
ingredients available here in Canada. I started by cooking meals for my housemates, simply to share
the comfort of homemade food. Within just a week, their friends, neighbours, and colleagues began
asking for the same meals. Through nothing more than word of mouth, our small kitchen quickly
became a trusted source of authentic Indian food.
The love and appreciation we received inspired us to turn this passion into a business, with one
simple mission—to bring the true taste of home to every family living away from home.
Today, Desi Swaad proudly serves more than 2,00 satisfied families, and we continue to grow while
staying true to our values.
